RNG became a partner of the New Economic School (NES) and contributed to the development of modern economic education. The charity program started in September 2020 and includes educational grants, financial support for regional students, and the establishment of two endowed professorial chairs on behalf of RNG.
The CEO of RNG Vladimir Rakitin noted: “Today, business is facing a particularly acute task of building up its technological potential, introducing effective innovative directions. The dynamic growth and competitiveness of companies largely depend on their successful solution. NES has a significant role in modern economic science – it creates a community of economists who adequately represent Russia in the global economic profession. We are joining the great and useful work. I am confident that with our support, the school will continue to develop successfully. At the end of the studies, students will have serious discoveries that are important for the state and useful in business."
The main grant program will allow gifted students from different regions of the country to study at a leading economic university.
In addition, partial grants providing tuition discounts from 30% to 100% will be distributed among 20 successful students of master's and applied programs.
Nonresident students will have part of their accommodation costs covered. In the current academic year, 42 students are provided with a dormitory: 20% of them are for free, and the rest – with 50% discount.
An important area of cooperation between RNG and NES in 2020 was the establishment of two chairs on behalf of the company. This will allow the School staff to continue their research and teaching activities, making a significant contribution to the development of world economic science and education. NES economics professors Gerhard Toews and Marta Troya-Martinez, who received PhD degrees from Oxford University, have been appointed to the professorial chairs on behalf of RNG. Fuel and energy complex is among the research interests of both teachers. Their joint publication on relational contracts in the natural resource market has been acknowledged in the international economic community.
Rector of the New Economic School Ruben Enikolopov said: “We live in a very difficult but amazing time. On the one hand, the coronavirus epidemic has a negative impact on economic stability. On the other hand, this is a time of new opportunities and potential realization. At the moment, reliable partnerships and support are especially important for the School. And thus our new friends and partners represented by RNG, its shareholders and employees are even more valuable. We believe this is the beginning of a strong long-term relationship."
